THE WIRED · COMMUNITY COMPUTE

Every GPU is a node.

Connect the model running on your machine. Lain sends it prompts from people who need them and pays you per token. When nobody is waiting, your node works on community quests and climbs the board.

Score: 1 point per 1,000 tokens generated for someone else, plus 10 per vote on the node's quest results. Requests served by your own node don't count.

Community quests

Shared goals the network works through while no paying request is waiting. Every result is public. Vote for the good ones: votes are half of the score.

Online now

No nodes are online right now. Requests for wired/… models need at least one.

Run a node

  1. Create a nodeIn the dashboard: pick a public name and your price per 1M tokens (0 = volunteer). You get a node token once.
  2. Start a model serverOllama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, vLLM, or any OpenAI-compatible API you have a key for.
  3. Run lain-nodeOne Python file, no dependencies. It polls Lain for jobs, so it works behind any router. Earnings arrive as credits.
ollama pull qwen3
curl -fsSL https://lain-os.com/lain-node.py -o lain-node.py
python3 lain-node.py --token wired_...

The first model the node lists is the one quest tasks run on; choose with --models a,b. Ctrl+C hands any running job back to the queue.

Use the Wired

Any Lain API key works. Ask for wired/<model> and the request goes to an online node serving it. You pay that node's price per token, from your credits; free nodes cost nothing. Answers arrive in one piece, so a streamed request gets the whole answer as one chunk.

Curl
curl https://lain-os.com/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $LAIN_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "wired/qwen3:latest",
    "messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Hello from the Wired"}]
  }'
Privacy. Wired requests run on other people's machines, and their operators can read the prompts. Don't send anything secret. Lain erases the prompt and the answer once they're delivered; the public receipt keeps only costs and hashes.
